in my experience it doesnt really matter if its a pack made exactly for hunting. the pack i use now is a dakine biking backpack. its light wieght and holds my stuff nice and tight to my back.
the two questions i ask myself when picking a backpack is
1. will it hold my stuff and will it hold it close enough to my back that i wont be catching it on differents things while out in the field.
2. is it comfortable and light enough for me. i use my biking backpack because of this fact. but i am still in the market for a Badlands pack when i get the money.
but i would definitely go to a store and just try on different packs. look them over tooth and nail and make sure they work for you. everyone is different and thats why theres just some many styles out there. my dad likes the badland packs to but doesnt like how they feel on his back, where i love how they feel. just like i dont like his cabelas pack frame backpack but he loves it. its all a matter of choice and getting out there and looking at the different packs.
good luck in your search
