I've been using a badlands 2800 for three years. Man I love that pack
but most importantly I love badlands customer service. Every year I
send that thing to hell & back. Regardless they have sent me some
small parts, handful of buckles, & repaired a few spots I ripped. No questions
asked. They by far have the best warranty in the industry.
As a example here's how I often carry this pack. I usually have my
miscellaneous stuff in the back but here's where it gets good. There's
been several times where I use the batwings & strap a 50lb bag of
corn in it. I use a lone wolf assualt that I strap 5 summit buck steps
to. Having those locked together I use the batwing straps to interlace
the stand w/steps & tighten it down as tight as possible.
The balance & security of that pack is nice. I backpack/hike a good
bit so I'm also comparing it to my Osprey's. I can lean around & have
a very minimal sway i the pack. It's good enough I can keep from
making noise, climb over stuff, go up & down hills no problem & even
squat & stand w/the pack staying balanced.
The built in holsters a bonus also!
If I had it all to do again or buy another it would defiantly be the 4500.
