how close are we talking for distance when shooting? i found that tight stray hay bales work great for a back stop. plus they are cheap. if your using a higher speed bow at close ranges just double layer it. but i have found that one layer of stray hay bales works great for me but i dont really start missing the target until i get back to 50 or 60 when i am tuning my bow.
also you might want to check to see if your bow is within spec because usually you should be able to screw on your broadheads and hit somewhat decent with your fp's without much tinkering.
good luck in your search. in my opinion anything is better then hitting your garage door.
