Default New Collector saying Hello and Thanks

All,

I apologize in advance if I'm cluttering up the board with my post, but just wanted to say hello to everyone here and thanks to a few I've already talked to.

I've hunted my entire life with the majority of it being archery. Once I picked up the bow, it's all I've wanted to do since. However, until just very recently, I had no idea about collecting broadheads despite being so involved in all things archery.

I just thought I enjoyed shooting and hunting with my bow. This new found interest is nothing short of an addiction. It is simply amazing to me how many varieties, styles, brands, makes, etc have existed over the years in archery.

I am interested in collecting any and all broadheads from the oldest to the most current. Prior to registering, I have looked at a variety of posts from others here and must say that several of you have a most impressive collection and awesome displays. It is very encouraging to a new collector.

I meant to write only a few lines and have already written several......just can't get enough of this stuff!!!!

I look forward to meeting and talking with many of you as I continue to learn and grow my collection and interest. I would like to thank Big Boar and Bowhunterfrompast as I spent some time talking with them via email yesterday. They both were very friendly, encouraging, and helpful for a new collector and I appreciate them. Big Boar and I must have had 20 plus emails yesterday....he is a wealth of information and appears to be a true ambassador of the ABCC.

Thanks and good collecting to all....

Michael

Well Michael it was fun talking to you and I guess I won't have to do much guessing as to who you are by your Handle. I will add you to the ABCC members list on the forum.

Michael just joined the ABCC offically on Saturday, and is already knee deep into this collecting stuff even before he got his membership package.

I think we are finding out that Bowhunterfrompast's Photobucket is proving valuble to others just starting out in broadhead collecting.

Wow, could be. I guess you will need to look at the New Members List in the July newsletter (too late for the April one).

What I can tell you is that it isn't Winchester. This guy is into bows. Also you better start keeping a low profile because this guy is with the Feds that keep the peace.

Beside Shep, Rick tells me you have been ignoring him on his trader list and he won't send it to me until you respond. So let's get going.

Welcome. Toss your heads on the trade blanket and lets look through them.

The good news is that I need a LOT more than Greg, Ron or Rick.

I'll get a few pictures up this week of what I have. I believe I might even have one duplicate in my small collection

Check out my collection & my traders - if it's glue-on and not one I have in (what I humbly call) the collection I'd like to meet it.

You forgot the smiley face. Michael hasn't met me yet, so he may think I am as tall as you.

Guys,

I was hoping to share a few pics of my starting collection tonight, but time just got away from me. Hopefully, the next few days will not be a repeat of tonight and I will be able to......

Waiting anxiously to see it!

Had a minor coup tonight. I just received a lot of eight broadheads from that bay site I had paid $15.51 plus $3 S&H thinking four would be duplcates. Thanks to Wade's book I found I only had one duplicate - and that's a Ben Pearson 4x4.

If you are at all serious I highly recommend Wade's two books: Broadheads 1871 - 1971 and Broadheads 1972 to 2007. Not only are they just plain fun to look through, containing many heads of which few exist and no casual collector may ever optain, but they help you identify the heads you own or are interested in. It's like looking through an old Bannerman's catalog and drooling over the $4 Krag rifles and $10 sporterized Mausers.

The second great idea I stole from Rick: take an image of every head you get and sort them in Photobucket by title. This has prevented me from wasting time and resources on heads that would be duplicates. I've been meaning to build a display case . . . for the past nine years. You'd be surprised how soon you forget you found that head you thought you wanted. Age, perhaps?

Hunt sharp!

Only thing I like better than collecting broadheads, is seeing broadhead collections.
