I don't know. I see a lot of Glenn St. Charles Mickey Finn's up for sale on eBAY for several months, typically from the same seller. And the picture always looks like New. How can you tell of it is authentic or counterfeit? I do not mean to sound so cynical it just seems to coincidental to me.

looks just like the one on the cover of the newest TBM. Mine has the same spot welds but are very faint to see.
Have you asked the seller about these heads?

Hi, Raghorn... thanks. I probably should. The "Item Condition" says, "..." - whatever that means!
I'll find out, because he seems to have a lot of them and posts them for auction all the time. They have been going for as much as 50 bucks a piece! Which I wouldn't go that high.

It might be good to question the seller. Could be a great story there!
I see the seller is in Washington, so he's in the right area to have these.

Hi, Ron... I hit him up for details (a story). He told me he had to go out but would respond later. Might be interesting indeed.

Hi guys this is my first post!
I got a couple of heads from the same seller, he said he inherited 250 heads from his grandfather who was friends with the Dude. I bought 12 heads from him early in the year. The weights vary a bit 145-160 all are unsharpened and powder coated. They look just like the used ones I have............... I sharpened up a couple that I intend to use with my Gen 1 Thunderbird sometime. |

Welcome Bjorn!
I am surprised about the powder coating. Mine and others I have seen and handled were painted black.

Here's a pic it is with my phone so not as detailed as I would want. The one at 10 o'clock represents the powdercoated ones best. They are completely unsharpened; and sharpen very well. The old used ones I have with arrows are black as described earlier. I suspect it is a combination of age and blackening from paint perhaps.

Hey guys, I bought a dozen Micky Finns from Sean and a few more. Your right, his grandad was friends with Glenn and Fred Bear, he did make them for Glenn. He lives in Bonney lake, Washington.
Sean told me when his grandad past away they were cleaning out his machine shop and hauled trailer after trailer to the dump for months. Well this one box keeped getting kicked around the shop and they looked in it and it was a box full of Micky's. Then asked the St. Charles Family if the heads were worth anything. The rest is history. Two collectors, one from Nebraska and one from Michigan bought 200 plus heads apeice. ABCC members. Another member (my good friend) bought about 150 and the dies that made the micky with the last head made still in the die. Seans grandad also made Bear broadheads and made the dies for both of the Bear razor and Micky Finn. These are original heads and no one is making them today. When I bought my heads from Sean he said he had about 250 left and asked if I wanted to buy the rest at 25 bucks a head. I couldnt afford that. However, the collector from Nebraska and the one from Michigan paid ten bucks a head and picked out the best heads for themselves a year or so prior to me finding them. I asked Susan St. Charles if I could buy a Micky Finn from her and she said Joe St.Charles her brother said it would Cost $150. So I waited and found it fleabay. They have been going for around $35 to 40 buck on average. Tom Gabard form Washington state sold a Micky Finn for $75 bucks a week or so ago on fleabay. That head I gave to him. I bought that head from Joe St. Charles in 2008 for $67.50 , that head belonged to the St.Charles Family. The tip was rusted a bit but if that head could talk what kind of stories would it tell of hunts past with the St. Charles Family. I harvested a bull Elk with another Micky Finn I got from Joe. I have Heads that are coated and not coated and the welds are the same. I have a few Micky Finns that have never been finished from 1953 or 1954. they looks the same as the rest. Once these heads are sold good luck finding anymore unless the other two collectors start selling their lots off. They will not sell them for price that they have been going for or the ten bucks a head they paid. Think about it. You pay 25 to 30 bucks for six heads to hunt with. Then 35 to 40 bucks is no big deal. Unless we all decide to not bid any higher than 25 bucks and not bid each other up and keep the price low. Call Sean up and buy them directly from him in bulk. Maybe get some guys together and buy the rest and we split them. If you want to do that, deal me in. You know how to get a hold of me. Last edited by stickgunner; 01-03-2012 at 10:26 PM.
