    Default China Sawtooth 100

China is now coming out with many new heads that are not copies of other manufacturers heads. One of the new heads that came out in 2016 and was available on Ebay through various distributors was this head. It has many similarities to the Rage broadheads but many differences. This head weigh 103 grains. It has an ABCC number 0363.0969.

    Default China Spitfire 125

Another China head being sold on Ebay was under the name Spitfire. However it is not similar to any of the NAP or Thunderhead Spitfires. It is listed on the ABCC Master List as 0363.0971.

    Default China Red Wizard

Another new China mechanical that came out in 2016 was being sold on Ebay by various distributors as the Red Wizard. It is very similar in ferrule features to both the Datt and Rage broadheads. The blades are very similar to the Datt head and the slicer blade is similar to the Rage heads. The ABCC number is 0363.0981

Default Bloodrunner China Copy 100 (2) Blade

The NAP Bloodrunner is also another popular head by a USA manufacturer that is being copied by China. There are some slight differences which I will point out so you can tell if you have an original head or a China copy. The copies can be gotten off of Ebay for under $2 each versus about $11 each for the originals. You would think that this low price would mean a shabby rough looking head, but this is not the case. They are very well made but I can not tell you about the quality of the materials. The main difference is that the tip and ferrule are longer than the original. On the copy the tip facetts are almost the full length of the tip. The ferrule has an extra flare at the base which makes the ferrule longer than the orginal.

The application for an ABCC part number is being considered with no number assigned as of today.

    Default The End

That completes the new mechanical heads that were introduced in 2016 which I have. That is a total of 45 heads. There were a couple more that were introduced, but I do not have them yet.

I hope you found this thread interesting and were impressed by the number and differences in the heads shown. If I am able to procure the remaining heads that came out I will add them to this thread, but otherwise that is it for 2016.

I can almost guarantee that most of these heads will never be seen in person by most of you. An average mechanical head by a USA manufacturer is now running between $35 and $50 for three. A couple of these were over $20 each with postage. This means that most of these will never end up on a retailers shelves and will be out of production within a year or two.

The high cost of USA heads will also encourage the China manufacturers to make more copies and introduce even more new versions. I suspect that part of the problem is that the USA manufacturers went to China in the first place to have their heads produced. It wouldn't take much effort to run an extra 5000 heads and then sell them from China. This will be a great loss to the USA in the long haul and may change the archery world for many years.
