Well, as some of you may or may not know, I am not a big fan of the magnum slick tricks. While they did kill everything I shot at, the resultant damage to the broadhead... every time... left me a little less than enthused.
The last couple of years I had great success with Muzzy MX-3s and Magnus Stinger/Buzzcuts. Since I cant seem to leave well enough alone, I have been searching for a new broadhead for my upcoming bear hunt. I really wanted to try the new Snuffer SS, but its release date is going to be a little too late. So to make a long story even longer, while on a trip last week I stopped by a local archery shop and looked at the 125 razor tricks pretty hard. Seeing as how Uncle Sam was paying me a little extra for the trip, I figured what the heck. I finally got home and it stopped raining long enough to get out and shoot, so I screwed them on and took 3 field points to the back yard. As with all Slick Tricks these things flew great. Maybe better than the magnums. I am pretty impressed with thier flight. However, that is not the point of the thread. Since I am now shooting a 530 grain arrow at 275 my older broadhead target is having trouble holding on. I shot through the target and hit a 2x4 I had holding up the target. Here is where the razor trick impressed me more than the magnums. First, it went through the target, and burried up past the blades in the 2x4. I finally got the arrow unscrewed and was able to dig the broad head out from the wood. Blades were perfect! The magnum blades... in my experience, would have been chewed up to the point they would have to be replaced. Not only were the blades perfect, but it spun true, and hit the bull on the next shot. And I was not gentle getting this thing out of the wood, since I thought it was ruined already. Obviously this does not represent how they will work on game, but they will be on my number 1 arrow for the bear hunt, and I will report back. I am drooling even more than I was before... if that was possible. ![]() Matt

I have not discounted the fact that the problems I had with the magnums were my own problems.
I will say, however, I believe the blades on Slick Tricks were better (not sharper, but better) on the pre German models than those currently used. May be a hardness issue, may be a personal preference, but I believe those blades were superior than those released today. The blade angle may have something to do with that too... With that said, I cant wait to try out the Razor Tricks on a live animal. Matt

+1 or should i say +2 on the RT's.... both connected and put animal down within sight. My buddy and I had never seen a bloodtrail so big on the first deer that went down. Rediculous, she only went 20 yards... I don't think I'll be straying from them for quite awhile. They flew great for me with hardly any tinkering.
