Im thinking about getting either the regular silver flame or the silver flame xl from ABS's sale and I wanted to know who has used them. those xl's sure do look scary but do they fly good? any reviews of either would be appreciated.

Hi
I used the original 150gr German kinetics on impala and a kudu cow. I saw them both fell. I then bought some 150gr XL (China made) Silver Flames and they fly just as great as my originals and they shoot to the same point. I have not used them to hunt with but as soon as I shoot something with them will I post it on here. |

I have the German Kinetic 125XL. They fly the same as my field points out to sixty even in the wind.
Haven't tried the new ones.

Here's my first shot w/the XL. It was German Kinetic not the ABS. I'm sure the results would be the same. Very adequate hole. Great blood trail even though I didn't really need it. Broke a rib on each side. Deer was 175lbs.
This pic is the exit.

Talking about the old original model, not really good reports.
The idea, on spending that money and accepting a 2 blade bh, is on my opinion to have something deadly and dependable on really tough game, not on white tails. In a safari, my friend shot two giraffes with silver flames, and on 3 shots one broke badly. Personally, I think that the heat treatment made them too hard; plus, to keep weight down (but should not be a problem, if projected for the intended use, heavy bows and game...), the resulting construction is too weak. XL= more difficult penetration, so no problem on light-medium game (where you do not need a silverflame), possilble problems on heavy game... Personal opinion, of course. |

Got a couple of ABH silver flames in 125 and 150 grain. Grouped both well and very durable. Shooting a Z7 at 65lbs and 29", shooting through a field point bag and through a 5/8" sheet of OSB at 40 yards. Will be buying a package of 150 grain for Sept. elk hunt unless I find something that works better.
