Default Tuning question..........

I shoot the G5 T3 now. Is there alot of tuning involved if any in shooting a broadhead like the Silver Flame or the CE XT-4? I shoot a PSE X-Force Vendetta w/ Easton Axis slimtech 28" @ around 315fps. Thanks.

BOWCAPT - it's kind of hard to answer that as it'll depend on how well your rig is already tuned. It's possible that you could simply screw in a BH and be just fine. What have you done tuning-wise to your bow? What tuning methods have you utilized thus far? Paper tuned, walk-back tuned, creep tuned... etc?

Providing your cams are timed right and you're fairly close with your rest placement, it's not that hard at all. Woody Sanford, Magnus Engineer, was kind enough to upload a BH tuning video that should serve you well. Here's the link:

If your bow is properly tuned, ie walkback, french etc.. it should be able to shoot most any braodhead.

Once I am paper tuned I walk back tune. On my new bow, once I had good paper I put on BH's and walk back tuned and made one small adjust to the rest and was good. I am shooting 3 different fixed heads and a GR mechanical all to the same POI.

Mechanical heads are generally more forgiving of tuning shortcomings than fixed blade heads.

However, I would still recommend the exercise of broadhead tuning with fixed heads even if I plan to only hunt with mechanical heads. This is because a well tuned bow shoots all types of heads better.

Sometimes moving the rest and nock point isn't enough to get the bow in tune. So don't be allergic to changing head weight or draw weight to get it right. It's worth the effort.

I use broadhead tuning as the final step after paper and walkback tuning.
