Default Has Muzzy improved their quality

Being an Old Muzzy shooter I was getting a little bummed about the quality control the last couple of years. Tips looking like they were done on a hand grinder in a garage, wobbles etc. The 2 packs I have looked at this year they looked really good. Anyone actually used any of the newer heads have any quality reports.

I have 6 of the MX-4 4 blades in 100 grain and all 6 spun true out of the pack and all 6 spin true after going through numerous hogs(dense bone, rib shots, and shoulder shots). I like them.

We were using a newer machine we had built that actually cuts 6 tips at a time, the only problem with the machine is it draws the head back across the tip on the last pass and leaves the striations in the tip on some and does not look good IMHO. We have been working on this problem and have gone back to using our original machines for the tip process so the newer tips should look much better. Thanks

Mark, what can I do if if I have brand new MX-4 broad heads that will not pass a spin test (even without blades on it) and will not fly true? I have a new package I have not even opened yet.

Not always the Broadheads. I was getting frustrated trying to get my Bheads to pass the spin test. Put them on another batch of arrows and they all spun perfect. Sometimes the insert and or cutting is the problem.

Mark, I have new MX4 that will not spin test and I have shot it a few times with practice blades and it also will not group at all.

Took me while to get my bow tuned good enough to shoot the MX4 because they were shooting low and to the left. All of my other broadheads were right with the field points, within reason.

I did find some cam lean that was causing the MX4 to veer left, and then tiller tuned it to get the low corrected. Now I am very sure my bow is tuned because my groups have tighten up a lot and I am getting much better flight out of my bareshaft.

I owe it all to the MX4 to help me fine tune my bow . Looking forward to posting in the wound room this year.

Sounds good Tex but another thing you can try after ensuring the inserts are true in your arrows is to use a shaft you know positively spin perfect with the broadheads, then take the 1 that is not spinning well and swap the trocar tips around with another head that does spin good and see if that changes it. Our ferrules really cannot come out not straight with the machines that we use, if there are any discrepencies it will kick it out and send a warning. But the trocar tip can cause a spinning problem if it does not seat properly as well. Try that and let me know what you find. Thanks

Hey guys, I discovered something that makes my Muzzys spin great. I was getting wobbles also, I went out and got a G5 Arrow Squaring Divice (sorry for the G5 plug on a Muzzy topic) and squared the ends of the inserts. I take a black sharpie marker, color the face of the insert, then shave a little off with the ASD, you can see that not all inserts are created equal. After that my Muzzys spun like they were machined onto the aroow. Made a HUGE difference for me.

Thanks Art for the tip!
I have always been very particular about inserts in carbon arrows and will install them with epoxy and add the broadhead and spin and turn until I get them to spin correctly then set aside the arrow to finish setting up.
If you just slap an insert in a standard carbon arrow typically only 5-7 will normally spin perfect and the rest will have a wobble in them. Inserts just do not seem to set in most arrows perfectly without spinning and truing them.

The ferrule did very well in all our testing with straigh on impacts with our steel barrels and suffered no damage to the ferrule at all. Will be exciting to hear the success reports come this hunting season!
