What are the pros and cons with the Simmons Land Sharks?
They look like wicked heads but how do they fly? Are the easy to tune? Do they stay sharp or do they require constant sharpening? They have long tips, has anyone ever bent one? I currently shoot a 100 gr head at whitetails and hogs but am considering switching to a 125 gr. Land Shark. My set up is a 70# PSE Dream Season with a 27-1/2" draw, shooting a 397 gr arrow (FOC = 10%) at 308 fps. I would like to increase my frontal arrow weight (slightly) to raise my FOC and increase momentum and KE. Any thoughts on the Sharks or the set up? |

Hi, I shoot them out of my katera @ 275fps and they fly great out to 50 yards, thats as far as I'm sighted. can't think of any cons other then the arrows should be out past the shelf to keep the heads from the riser, or i just make sure I have them at the right angle to clear my riser.

a great broadhead, but I think it is very big, so u could have problems at long distances
for sure increasing the FOC will help u a bit, but with some wind I don't think I will use them just my personal opinion |

i use the 165 gr. out of my compound and the 125 gr. out of my recurve. i have nothing but good things to say about them. i don't use the bleeder blades. these heads cut wicked holes and the holes are larger than the cutting diameter. the 165's are shot at 258 fps and fly great. i have bent one but it was from hitting rocks in the ground after passing through deer. since they are carbon steel they are easy to sharpen.

I've shot a buck and a doe with the 125's out of my recurve a couple years ago. Buck I spined out of a tree stand, broadhead went through the middle of one vertebra, with the point just peeking out the other side. Follow up shot through the rib cage going through one rib and sticking into the frozen ground, no damage to either head. Sharpened them up was all. Doe, complete pass-through the lungs, head was fine. Good broadheads in my opinion. no bleeder blades either. Good luck!
