Each year I usually try a different broadhead. Never really had a bad head. I taken deer with the Rage 2 blade, Nap Hellrazer's, Muzzy 100 3 blade, Snyper 2 blade, Wac'em, Buzzcuts. This year my choices are the Muzzy MX4 and the Ramcat's. I bought 6 of each and have shot them both.
MX4 - 100 grain Pro's. Very durable heads Good cutting diameter 4 blades Good sharp point Sharp blades Blades are packaged well Assembly is easy Appreciate the practice blades - easy to pull out Con's: No Cons outside of Tuning - I am having a fit getting the MX4's to fly with my field points and other broadhead. They are always hitting left and low no matter what I do to the bow. All my other broad heads (including the Muzzy 3 blades) hits with my field points out to 40 yards. I would like to try the MX4 because it appears to be a very good well built head but it I can not get it tuned to my box. So I picked up a few Ramcat's the other day and they look like a good head. Ramcat - 100 grain Pro's: Blades are sharp, 3 blades that cuts both ways Close to the same length as a field point Good tip design and sharp Small package with a very good cutting diameter Shoots identical to my field points. Cons: Hard to pull out of a targets Blades are sharpen to a point and will be high risk of knurling at the ends Looks like a one shot head ? on durability. Only time will tell for sure. |

Tips of blades on the RamCat do bend very easy. But when they hit, man do they do some damage. They have faired well in penetration tests as well. Check out the Radain's. Shot them and the RamCat's back to back yesterday. Both fly like field points and the Radain's held up better. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

The Ramcats have worked well for me in Africa and on feral hogs on TX. They are not a one shot head. Check some of the other threads I have posted and you will see.

I've seen some of those threads. Impressive... they are what lead me to give the Ramcats a try in the first place.
My mistake with words, I did not mean these are one shot heads but do question the blades as they may very will be one shot blades. The heads are actually built very well compared to some of the other heads I have tried. I'll see how the blades hold up here in a about 4 weeks or so. Can't wait.... |
