My buddy shot a few deer with them and got great penatration with a slower bow. He said they didn't sharpen up to bad after a pass thru.

After going through a tailgate of a blazer it just curled the tip a little I am going to give them a try after I lay some deer down with the RamCats

I shot a 100 gr G5 Montec carbon steel through a 1.5 year old cow at a severe quartering away angle. She went 20 yards and piled up in sight.
Went in behind last rib, exited in front of off shoulder. Maybe 42-45" of penetration? Never found the arrow (dark before I finished boning the cow, last day of the hunt.) Bow and arrow in sig. Sig not showing up? 2008 73#x29" 101st Airborne arrow was a 415 gr 28.5" Axis ST 340 with a 100 gr G5 Montec CS at 298 fps Last edited by Don_G; 10-21-2011 at 10:56 PM. Reason: no sig?? |

Hi gents, have just come back from a hunt with Nduna safaris in south Africa and can report on stellar performance from the G5Montec. was lucky enough to take a nice warthog at 24 yards and a zebra at 52 yards . Both were complete pass throughs with the pig dropping on the spot and the stripey donkey running 20 yards before piling up . I did take the oppurtunity to touch up the edges of the broadheads after checking the sights and practice session on our arrival at the lodge. using the G5 diamond stone it was really simple to hone them back up to hair shaving sharpness. Never recovered the the arrows but I have a great zebra rug coming to me in a couple of months.
