Default Cleaning your sharpening stones

For all you guys (and gals) who sharpen your knives and/or BHs with a stone of some sort... Lansky, Gatco, KME... etc, do you clean your sharpening stones? And if you do, what do you use?

Up till now, I have simply just put oil on my Lansky stones and kind of tried to rub with my finger or blot the stone on a paper towel to get the metal off of it. But I'm sure that there's got to be a better way. What do you use?

David

That is how I have been doing it also for many years. They seemed to keep cutting fine (I use Lansky) and I have completly worn out several stones over the years. I reoil the stone and clean it after about every ten strokes, which might be why they never seem to plug up.

I do exactly what Big Boar does but with the Diamond version. Always make sure you put your kit away clean.
