Standing Bear will become famous soon enough
Default What is your dream bowhunt

My dream bowhunt is a two part one. Going after elk would be a dream come true but what would make it even more special would be to go after the elk with the love of my life, my friend, wife and bowhunting partner Sylvie. That right there ladies and gents, is my dream bowhunt.

Well SB like you all of my dream hunts would include my hubby (Saddleman). My dream hunts are pretty much everyday hunts to some people but here is the list:

Black Bear (would like a color phase)
Elk
Mule Deer
Yukon Moose (Shirus (sp) would be okay but I want a monster)
and then the ultimate ~
The Big 5 of Africa

and all of these would be done with my bow

Elk just for the experience of getting out spotting and stalking being in the mountains miles from civilazation. I would prefer to be on the hunt alone or with only a couple of good friends. The kind of hunt I want to go on would not be suited for my wife and I don't want to put her through the hardship.

Yukon Moose! Big ole 60+"er!!!! With an African Safari with warthog close behind!

The African Safari is more attainable than the Moose hunt though....... Last I checked they are pushing 40 grand

I would have to say, Cape Buffalo, Musk Ox, Ibex, Grizzly, and Bighorn Sheep...

This coming from the guy who also loves to shoot grasshoppers out of the soybean field with judo tips and the longbow....

I have a Gemsbock from SA, a Stag from NZ and 5 others animals from Africa and going again in 2 weeks and I have killed a few elk, but nothing big. It would have to be for a trophy class, 350"+ elk, or a lion with a bow. I have a lioness hunt booked for 2012 in Africa. Too many to great animals to choose from.

I've been very lucky and already spent 20 years of bowhunting griz, which are my favorite and will likely go again before its all over but I've pretty much had my adventures and now just enjoy everytime I'm out there. So the future for me is when my kids get old enough to do it and I'll probly just be camera man.

Chasing elk from the ground would have to be my number 1, but I'm sure hunting moose/bear with Standing Bear as my guide could be an awefully close second.
