Where I'm at in Oregon I hunt nutria, raccoons, opossums, skunks, cottontails, jackrabbits, grey squirrels, ground squirrels, quail, grouse, pheasant, ducks, geese, bullfrogs, fox, coyotes, starlings, gophers, marmots, and if they stick their heads up mice. Small game hunting is year round for me, I love it. I believe it makes for better woodsmen and better shots in the field, i.e. better hunters. Get out and enjoy it!

We dont really have nutria or opossums here but there is muskrats and ermine plus bobcats. Just take your bow and go to the woods - there is adventure waiting.! |

I know u have groundhogs in Ill. They make for excellent stalking n shooting. I massacre the pop here in IN. Shot my first one as a kid shooting 20lb. With a 1516 arrow. It glanced off the skull n it couldn't get down the hole. My dad had a screwdriver in his hand working on something so he finished it off. Wierdest shot with bow on one was lastyear. I had a Wasp Jackhammer expandable chuck was laying down 20 yds arrow didn't pass thru and sob ran 10 yds down it's hole with my arrow!!!! I never have liked expandables. Yotes are a great challenge here in the Midwest. I don't hunt them with bow, I Hunt them exclusively after deer season and only shoot 4 or 5 a year. They seem smarter than the ones out west. They travel a lot.

I know we have them here also, but I can't say I've ever seen one. I do hunt yotes with my bow and have done so for the last three years. That being said I'll let ya know when I get one. LOL.
The only reason I hunt them is 4 years ago I was stalking up on a doe (it was not deer season, and I had no bow, I was practicing stalk) as I crested a hill about 25 yrds from the doe, I found myslef five yrds away from a yote and a freshly killed fawn witch is why I'm guessing the doe stuck around for me stalking up there. Where i hunt the herd is approx. 8 to 15 deer and i manage them with the utmost care. I couldn't have yotes killing them. So i started hunting them, the closest I've had one since is 75 yrds.
