I hunt whitetails from a treestand and turkeys from a groundblind. I always wondered why deer seem to see a groundblind from a mile away(even when it is brushed in) while turkeys don't even seem to notice them?

Treestand for me...Spot and stalk is just about impossible here as the land is not open enough. And as for groundblinds,it is pretty tough too. They are real skiddish about things down on the ground. We put a ground blind in some thick around a heavily traveled and frequented food plot...Put up several cameras, and it was less than a pic a week on a camera that we were getting 15 pics regularly in 24 hours(with only a 5 minute delay).

I prefer to hunt from a treestand, way, way up in a tree.(Over 30 feet whenever possible). But if the area does not provide appropriate trees, I will also use a ground blind. Most places I've hunted especially here in IL its nice to have a couple options.

I love the view from a tree stand but I prefer to hunt from the ground. Hunting and killing a deer at ground level is an incredible feeling. Not to mention it will teach you sent control and how movement can effect the outcome of a hunt.

I so totally agree ~ I love to be in the tree ~ and I don't like heights, but if I am on the ground I would prefer to not have a blind, I just prefer to be able to really see everything

I agree with you guys on the hunting from the ground without a blind(deer just do not like the blinds here), but hunting from the ground behind natural cover is not so terribly hard, granted the wind is right, your movement is minimal and your scent is almost nothing

I love sitting in a tree! Under certain circumstances you have to do what you have to do.

Spot n Stalk is pretty much the only way to hunt here in Northern Nevada. I'll be hunting from a blind at a water hole for Pronghorn though...although I might just forget the blind and go au naturel!
