I might put one Bludgeon tipped arrow in the quiver. Usually I don't. Depends on where and what I am hunting.
Ex. I'm meat deer hunting over bait in an area with a bad Raccoon problem and the Landowner wants me to shoot them. Even then I am only going to shoot one or two. I will have at least one "Practice" arrow in the quiver. This is the arrow I shoot into foam targets, for practice. It will be tipped with the exact same head I will be hunting with. This arrow gets "used"! Blades are dull but straight and fly the same. I find that being able to check how the bow is shooting while I'm hunting is very useful. If something happens on the way to the stand, that makes you wonder if the bow is shooting right. This arrow answers the question! The "Practice" arrow is set up like my other hunting arrows, so where it shoots my hunting arrows shoot. I mark the fletchings with a "P" using a Sharpie marker to differentiate it. This is the arrow that gets used as a "Small game" arrow if need be. My quiver holds eight. Typically, I'll carry one "Practice" arrow and seven hunting arrows. |
