Default Fobs anyone

Anyone shoot them?? Iv been interested in them but have never seen anyone shoot them. I dont know if I would like them touching my face. Do they fly good from a fast bow with a broadhead in the wind?

FOB won't necessarily touch your face. They don't touch mine at all, and I would certainly notice them tickling my whiskers. The rigid airfoil will help to stabilize a broadhead faster than floppy fletching.

there are a lot of video in youtube showing the differences between fob an fletching on wind.
I think they are good, but I don't use them yet. I wanna try them. the easiest thing for you is to buy them and test them. I think they costs 24 usd for 6 pieces.

I just cant justify the cost when I can harvest just as easily with regular fletching.

I watched a video on the starflight website shooting a 1 9/16" broadhead in a strong crosswind. The fobs flew great, the other arrow with vanes drifted a bunch. I'll have to find someone that shoots them so I can try em out. Are they quiet in flight. I know some guys that are anal about vane noise. We were doing some testing one day shooting from 60 yds and I was standing around the corner of a building 20yds from the target and the blazers seem quiet. But the sound of the bow gets ther before the arrow and vane noise. The guys are just trying to reduce string jumping. With close to 320fps and a quiet bow, they think vanes noise is a big thing

I have used them with great success for the last 3 years and will probably not go back to regular fletching. I hate fletching arrows! (comes from owning a shop for 9 years and doing custom fletching!). They do not touch my face at my anchor either. There are also videos on the web that show guys cutting these down to practically nothing and they still fly great and control the arrow/bh. One thing, you must have your drop away timed right to drop or it causes big problems. i never changed anything on my set up going from Blazers to FOB's. They also shoot exactly like my Quickfletch out to 60 yards.

I just started messing around with FOB's, but these are two video's I shot with them and Blazer's. Sorry about the 60 I was a little worn out and dropped the FOB a little. As far as them touching my face yes mine do. Unless these guys anchor with their loop really low in comparison to their face I don't know how theirs don't.

with continuous wind, a cylinder like the fob offer the same resistance to the wind. fletching, rotating, offer a discontinuous surfice to the wind.

if there is light wind, fetch or fob doesn't made the difference
with moderate or a bit more wind, fob could do the difference in long distance shoots

that's in my opinion

Try $24 (that's with shipping) for a baker's dozen (13). You don't have to buy a fletching jig, either. The cheapest one-vane jig I've seen costs $25, plus the cost of glue, vanes, etc. Add in the time factor to fletch a dozen arrows one vane at a time (I know there are 3-vane jigs, but at $50 or more)...

I can "fletch" a dozen arrows with my FOBs in about 90 seconds.

My metacarophalangeal joint of my index finger (big knuckle) rests on the back angle of my jaw. That is not that low. How long is your draw length?

29"...I anchor with my knuckle behind my jaw and under my ear with my nose resting on the string.

Good info guys.. I'll stop by a local shop n see if he has any I can shoot. I anchor the same as lungbuster. I could really see them making a difference in the wind.

I wouldn't tray them for the fletching. I got a package of FOB's and here's what happened:

The shot comes lower and it produces more noise in flight.

The other thing is it takes the chance to shoot with lighted nock's.
In Portugal we hunt mainly at night so lighted nock's are essential.

Have you looked at the nocturnals? They light up by a button not from circuit connection.

I have them and they work great. The only reason I stopped is I wanted to use lighted nocks to help find my arrow on pass-thrus. Arrows and BHs are expensive and I want them back.
