Quote:
KE = (m*(v*v))/m,v KE = (382*(270*270))/382270 KE = 27847800/382270 KE = 72.85 Could someone explain where the 61.5 came from? Or tell me I have the wrong formula? OH WAIT!!!!!!!! Just found online people are using KE = (m*(v*v))/450240 That would give the 61.5 that was stated. WHAT ONE IS RIGHT?!?!?!? I feel like an idiot... Last edited by Lint Trap; 10-24-2010 at 08:19 PM. |

61 is right. I vote for strikers for fixed and grim reaper 1-3/8" cut for mechanicals. The strikers are stout and easy to resharpen.

With lower ke I would look at rage 40ke its a narrower cut version of the reg rage made for lower poundage or lower ke bows, they work very well!

Of those you listed I chose the Montec because I have never seen a bad review on them, However looking to the Redfeather Pheonix next time out.

It sure seems to me that it really doesn't matter which one you use as long as you are confident that you can make the shot. I've read tons of reviews about a lot of different blades and there's always a bunch that like them and one or two that will never use them again, because of this that or the other. If you place your shot well, you'll get the kill. It's plain and simple.
I wonder how many hunters think about shot placement? I wake up thinking about where I'll place my shot if the deer is quarting away, standing broadside or quartering to me. You most certainly cannot expect to aim at the same point for all three instances. Anticipate the trajectory as it passes through your target and make your shot accordingly! Good luck this season, I know I'll need all I can get.

When I turned 50, I was seeking a new challenge in hunting whitetails. It was with this desire that I decided to try bowhunting as a next step from rifle hunting. I am set-up with a Bowtech, 60lbs, 29.5", 394 grain arrow at 255 fps.
This is my second season and I have released a total of 5 arrows with three hits. All three hits have resulted in kills. The distances travelled after the hits are 120 ft, 45 ft and 15 ft. All left good blood trails and I might add that the 120 ft run had the advantage of going down a hill. These blades are razor sharp (soligen, germany) and have given a consistent flight performance which has been a big confidence booster. Last edited by mijman; 10-21-2011 at 09:22 AM. |
