Im not trying to be a tommy topper or anything, but...
Especially cause Sept. 20th this year I was hunting from the ground and had a buck as close as you can get to broadside and he picked his head up right into my shot. hit him in the head and he ran off, followed blood for 200 yards, never found arrow. then after a day and a half grid search gave up with the feeling he did not die. I was shooting a SST100!!!

When you kil him next year you better post it!! Then you will be a Tommy Topper....tommy topper....ol' topper Harley back there....always has a story to top the last one.....tommy topper....hee hee

Great thread... I like the " aging jaws " too. good idea. Biologists here use a single tooth to age deer. Not sure which one, or how, but I've been meaning to ask.

That is cool! I shot a buck afew years ago in the skull. (arrow hit a branch) I could not find him that night. I went back out the next day and he was staggering through the same area like a drunk. This time I hit him in the boilermaker but I was shocked he was alive at all. He had a 125 gr Steelforce Sabertooth embeded at least an inch into his skull.

No kidding, whether he knew it or not that hunter had to have done that deer a favor, can you imagine how bad it must have hurt to chew! Awesome investigation work!
