I just saw this post. That looks downright painful. I don't have any broadheads yet (just getting back into archery), but I was planning on using a wrench for them when I get them. I can't afford to cut up my hands (I hold .014" wires for doctors at work). After seeing that photo, I'm definitely going to make sure I use one.
Edit: I just noticed that you're from KS. Whereabouts? |

When I bought my Tricks I could tell how wicked sharp they were. No one in town had a broadhead wrench for sale. A friend gave me 2 and I never work without them. I recently gave one to a friend so he wouldn't have an accident.
Hope your hand is healing well. |

I have cut my thumb taking the Muzzy 4 blade off, needed a few stitches. I am glad you are OK and that is a real nice doe you shot there. You know, I still didnt learn my lesson until I read your story, I just got done ordering my bh wrench. Thanks for making me think twice, tomorrow I get my safety harness for the tree stand.

I can tell you that most of the time I do use a BH wrench. But just the other day after I had gotten my brand new Ramcats the RC blade did find the bone in my left index finger. The blades in these things are offset in such a way that it is hard to grip the head tight with just your fingers. Hence the reason the reason my finger slid across the fresh just out of the box Ramcat blade. I am just gald it was my left instead of my right trigger finger!!! The Ramcats are definantly one I would use a wrench on everytime, these are wicked little heads...
