I posted this on another site and the results were intereseting, so thought I would try here...
What is the longest shot you have ever taken bowhunting where: 1. You recovered the animal (big game), and 2. It was a complete pass-through? Please give the broadhead type and draw weight. Thanks. |

Longest shot to date on any animal has been 25 yards, it was a complete pass through with a Magnus 2 blade buzzcut 2 years ago with a 65lb draw. I have some really nice spots that I set up in so I never have a long shot, but I am comfortable out to 50 yards with the Phoenix.

Last spring, my wife, Sylvie shot her black bear with a CE Maxima 250 carbon arrow tipped with a 2 blade 85 grain Muzzy Phantom at 52 yards. She got a complete pass thru with her 50# bow. It was pretty awesome to see

Not as hard as it seems. I had a rangefinder, was able to range the goat and had an 80 yard pin. Back then I could keep 4 out of 5 broadhead tipped arrows in a 5" square repeatedly. I shot a lot back in those days when I owned a shop. I actually shot a Merriams turkey at 81 yards with the same set up, all ranged with 80 yard pin also. Hit the turkey right below the beard and turned him a flip.

60 yard shot with a 165 Simmons Land Shark w/Mathews Monster @ 70 lbs. I was shooting an Easton ACC 371 tipped w/the 165 Land Shark about 45 degrees uphill at a Red Stag in New Zealand. The shot was a front quartering shot facing me.... The arrow hit the front left shoulder & exited the right side cutting the 3rd last rib in half & stuck in the side of the mountain. The Stag stumbled 80 yards down the mountain & piled up DOA 20 yards from away....
