Hey guys, i was thinking of switching to 125 grain tips, and have also been very intreged with trying the NAP 100 grn bloodrunners. I am just wanting to know if using a booster is the same as a 125 grain head... Or if it will impeed the mechanics of the hybrid mechanical head. Thanks guys, Brian.

On most modular style broadheads (Fixed and Mechanical) the biggest difference between the 100 and 125 grain varieties is the weight of the ferrel. That's where the majority of the 25 extra grains goes. The result is a ferrel that is a good bit stronger. It's worth getting the 125 version if you need the stronger ferrel. The heavier insert will get you more FOC but not as much FOC as the true 125 grain head because the extra weight from the insert will be further back.
In short, if you can get the 125gr head that's a better option. The heavier insert will help though. |

brian, this may be a dumb question, but what is a booster?? I'm assuming (maybe incorrectly) that by booster you mean a brass weighted insert in the front of your shaft. If that's the case, then Leo is right. The FOC will move forward, but not as much as a 125 grain head. The heavier head will move the FOC forward more as the head itself adds to the overall length with more of the weight being forward.

The boosters that i am referring to are 25 grain weigths that tjread onto the arrow and then you thread on the broadhead. I figgured that it wouldnt be as good as a true 125 grain heaf, but my FOC is already pretty high, so im not to worried about that. Thanks for your input guys, Brian.
