Default Pass Through or Not?

How do you define a pass through shot?

I would define it as complete exit of the arrow from the the animal.

For me it means the arrow went completely through the animal and fully exited the animal.

I guess if I have two holes with arrow hanging out of other side I would consider it a pass threw as well.

Interesting...I thought of a pass through ass the arrow going through both sides and exiting, but my friend that I hunt with considers a pass through shot to be one that passes through both side but the arrow may not have passed through completely. I had never even thought of it that way!

So I would have to say there is a pass through shot and a complete pass through shot.

BUt a complete passthrough would mean a potentially better blood trail. Theoretically, a portion of arrow left in the animal could inhibit loss of blood.

That's the way I look at it. But I prefer a complete pass through.

Complete penetration is to me the broadhead exiting the animal. Pass thru would indicate, again to me, that the arrow completely passed thru the deer and exited.
I maybe wrong and have it backwards, but that is how I have always looked at it.

That's how it was exlpalined to me as well, Mark. A complete pass thru is an arrow based term, complete penetration is an animal based term.

If it completely exits the far side that is a pass through; as far as I am concerned anyway.
