Looks like a great head. It will definitley be tested by myself, but I can tell you, it is going to take one heck of a great perfoming head to get me to take my Ramcats out of my quiver. Have not heard if they are shipping yet or not.

This looks VERY similar to a Swhacker.

It acts differently than the shwacker. Works more like a gator. I researched this one when I was thinking of the mechanical I wanted to make. The one I made is rear deploy much like this. I have it posted in the homegrown section. Check out the video of how the Ulmner operates and a hunt it is used on.

It is a copy of the Gator expandable broadhead, with the same troubles in penetration and with the add of a o-ring. In my opinion, I think it's nothing special...... a good broadhead for little animals 'couse of the low penetration (based about what I saw with the gators in my broadhead target)

Fabbri, my friend, you might be completely right. It will take some KE. However, I think that the increased blade angle ( how it sweeps back more with an angle and less like a straight blade chopping) will aid in penetration. You can see it here.

The smaller 1.5" cutting diameter will also increase penetration over the gators 2"...I think. I could be completely wrong but it makes sense in my completely deranged head...lol.

I think you are right on with the smaller, thin skinned game like deer. I'm not saying it wouldn't be a complete pass through on an elk or moose but I would love to see it.

This is exactly what i was thinking. More slicing with this blade angle than chopping which should give better penetration.

For me the problem isn't the lenght of the blades.... for me the problem is the opening "blades" that are not sharpened and offer a big surface to penetration
take a front look at the broadhead, you can see the unsharped blades giving a 0,78" of "breaking surface"

if we are making our broadheads shaving sharp, 0,78" of totally unsharped blades will offer a zero penetration, 'couse it thoughtness must be added to the sharp surface of the blades.
when I hitted the broadhead target it was almost falling and I heard a loud "BUM"

it is in my opinion only, for sure who knows more could tell me I am wrong.

For me a solution could be to give a single bevel to the unsharped blades

Ive actually never thought about that. That is a good point. I think someone should test that! Itd prove to be interesting. Also. Does that knife happen to be a spyderco?
