Default Grim Reaper Kill.....#12

After shooting the Grey doe the evening before i went back to that same stand for a morning hunt.It wasnt long after i climbed up that i had deer undeneith me.After letting several does pass i heard grunting up the hill from me and seen a buck pushing a doe around. They were going away from me so i pulled out the grunt call and the Can call and started working them both.I ended up turning the doe and she started easing my way.She hung up again and i hit the can call a few more times and she walked rite past me at 15 yards with the buck in tow.I wasnt sure i was going to shoot him at first and let him pass by.The doe ended up turning around and passed back by me and he did the same.He stopped at 27 yards broadside with his head behind a tree and i drew the bow and settled the pin on him.I let you go the first time but not this time...lol....WHACK!!!!!.... The 1 3/4" Grim Reaper made a Perfect hit and he whirled and ran maybe 40 to 45 yards and started stumbling and down he went.........WATCH'EM DROP!!!!!!

Man, you really lay them down in LA. Either you have a ton of time to hunt, and/or there are whitetails everywhere where you hunt. I wish I had that kind of action. Hunting the Suburbs of Pittsburgh PA is tough. You don't sneak up on any deer, and its tough to find the land space (and get permission) to get that kind of deer traffic.

Hey Widow Maker I'm currently shooting the Athens 32 29 inch draw about 63 to 65 pounds with a 374 grain arrow weight. I shot a couple average does with the 2 inch through the rib cage without impacting shoulder or heavier bone all under 15 yards with pass threws .I have plans on either getting a Strothers or Hoyt by next year 55 to 65 pounds shooting at 65 pounds. I believe your a 28 inch draw but what poundage and arrow weight you shooting out of your Z7 with the 2 inch. I haven't shot the 1 3/4 yet just the 1 3/8 an 2 inch. Would the 1 3/4 be the better choice if someone regular shoots 25 to 45 yards or would the 2 inch be about the same results.

Nice way to round out the season WM. Perfect shot placement aswell. Are things just starting to heat up down there or are the unbred coming back in? I have seen more action here in the second estrous as usual.

WA, rule of thumb is 65# minimum for 2" and would keep that under 25 yards. I shoot 82 lbs KE and got a passthrough with 2" at 35 yards.

I was shooting the 2 blade blood runners last yr had several pass thurs at 43 yrs. but that was 64 pounds and a 419gr arrow. I have shot the hammer heads 2 inch 3 blade a couple years back with good results how do you think they would compare to the 3 blade 2 inch reapers.

They are comparable to the Hammer Head 2" three blades I suppose. Grim Reaper does offer a 1 3/4" size as well which you can see Widowmaker uses with great success. You can order some expander cups and make the 1 3/4" heads a 2" cut if you wish.

Yeah i will but i will keep them for when im in some tight spots where i know my shots will be under 20 yards.I am HOOKED on the new 1 3/4" SS heads now. After shooting the 1 3/8" for years and having great success i think the 1 3/4" SS head is the BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.....IM SOLD ON THESE HEADS!!!!!

Im a 29" draw and i shoot 67lbs on my Z7 extreme.I have never weighed my arrows so i dont know their total weight. After shooting them all i would say go with the 1 3/4" SS.thats the heads i will be buying from now on.

Thanks bro!!!!.....The rut will be starting here soon in North East La...It all depends on where you hunt here though. We have 4 different ruts in this state. It all depends on what area you hunt.

Widowmaker you are the man. Looks like you are having another stellar year like always. The 1 3/4 heads are in my opinion the perfect combo of large cut and great peneteration! Hope you continue to have great success!

I took a 2" SS head I had in my broadhead box and put a regular cup on it to make it 1 3/4" cut....gonna give it a go next time I'm in the woods. I've killed deer with 1 3/8, 1 1/2, and 2" but never the 1 3/4. I might find the 1 3/4 cut to be the best all around!
