Default Urban Deer Management, First Reaper Kill

Haven't seen alot of daylight movement and I wanted to thin out the doe herd before the season ends. The doe around here aren't afraid of dogs and kicked my Boxer around earlier this fall. They also ravage the landscaping. Anyway, A bunch of doe came in right before dark and I was hunting on the ground.

Not the biggest one of the bunch, but she gave me a clean shot at about 20 yards and I took it. What you are seeing is the exit wound. I am thoroughly impressed with the penetration of the 2" Whitetail special, it blasted through bone and I found bone chunks along the blood trail.

Too far. She traveled down the road a few houses. Nothing like a nice, stealthy trot through the neighborhood recovering a dead deer. I managed to slip this one out unnoticed. I have several neighbors that are supportive because the deer are destroying the landscaping.... others I'm not sure about. I try to keep it all on the down low.

i bet that made it interesting. I tracked a few near yards around my house at dark and if they wouldve noticed the police would have been called. They are rich snobs who hate hunting. They called the police on me for building a survival shelter. They thought a homeless man lived their. Lots of blood pumping out of her? Also, I have a boxer too!

I know what you are talking about. The same rich people that hate the hunters, are also the first to call and complain to the borough about how the Deer are eating their flowers. The politics of it all make it difficult to find places to hunt. My immediate neighbors have no problem with my hunting in the yard, though. Further down the road, however, I am uncertain. I am careful with my tracking attempting to not draw attention to myself. The deer population is fairly good, as I have got at least 10 different bucks and countless doe on camera, trotting through my 1.2 acre lot. I'm certain I am not even putting a dent in the population.

It does add to the intensity of the hunt, though. Feels like a Black Ops mission.

Great Job UDS. Those sweet tenderloins will melt in the mouth. Good shot too. What is your bow set up (poundage, draw length, bow, etc.) for the 2 inchers. Congrats!

I use a Horton Ultralite Crossbow shooting at 330 fps with KE around 100. Its way overkill but accurate and deadly. I confess to being a poor shot with an old (late 90's model) Parker Crossbow I had and switched to the crossbow. I don't get alot of shot opportunities and the crossbow increased my confidence and accuracy.

Other guys on this site are using the 2 inch GR's with compound bows. Check with Widowmaker, he has alot of success with all the mechanical GR's!
