Default Grim Reaper Bone Frag and Broadhead Damage

Thought this would be interesting for those of you that want to know how destructive a broadhead can be. Referring to my thread "Urban Deer Management, First Reaper Kill", the picture below are 2 bone chunks found along the blood trail of a whitetail doe taken with a 2" GR Whitetail special. The Quarter gives you a reference of size. I think the big one is a chunk of shoulder bone. Notice the striations in the bone I think from the blades slicing at it.

The broadhead blew through both shoulders and buried about 4" into the dirt. The Grim Reaper broadhead performed extremely well! However, when I was cleaning it to put it back in the quiver I noticed it did sustain significant terminal damage and will not be re-usable. You will see that the trocrazor tip fragmented and blew out a rectangular chunk. By no means am I bashing Grim Reaper as this broadhead crushed the whitetail with a double shoulder hit! I will continue to use these broadheads as they fly true and pack a wallop !!!I'm just throwing it out there for you hard core broadhead guys to check out!

I'm gonna contact Grim Reaper about the tip damage. Anybody have any input on getting in touch with the proper Grim Reaper people?? Watch 'em Drop!!!

Thats crazy! Ive never had bone fragment in a bloodtrail before! With the tip. i had that happen to me before. I hit the opposite shoulder on my buck. Same thing happened. I think on their website it has an email. If not just give a day or two. The rep will see this.

Hi Urbandeerslayer,

Thanks for the post. Congrats on the deer! Sorry to see your tip broke. Obviously the broadhead did its job with some major impact on bone but we still fully stand behind our heads and i will be happy to take care of you. Just shoot me an email to matt@grimreaperbroadheads.com. our trocar tips are extremely tough but occasionaly we see one break on an extreme impact shot. Normally the conclusion has been a tip that was heat treated a little too hard making it slightly more brittle then the optimal hardness. Just my initial guess on what could of happened but we would definitley like to take a further look at it. I will look for an email from you. happy hunting!

Kudos out to Grim Reaper for standing behind their product. I had an issue with a shattered tip after a clean kill, and they replaced it. Thanks, GR! These things fly like a dart and hit like a truck! Got them back on the bolts and in the quiver, ready to hunt!
