I picked up some GR 100gr 1 3/4" shooting them out of my PSE Axe 6 set at 62lbs at 29"dl. 395gr arrow. Not sure about the speed.
Will this be enough for hogs? Going for the first time and new to an expandable and hogs so I'm not sure. Or would a COC head be better? Like a Buzzcut 4blade? I'd rather have the extra cutting diameter if you think my setup will be plenty for the Reaper. Hog hunters and Reaper shooters give me some feedback please. |

This is what I've picked up from reading hog hunting posts. If you wait for the slightly quartering away shot so you can slip it in behind the hogs shield almost any broadhead will work. If your going to shoot broadside and try to go through the shield a solid fixed blade like the buzzcut works best. Like I said though none of this is experience, just what I've picked up from the guys that do have the experience.

We have killed a lot of hogs with our mechanical heads. Generally we recomend the 1 3/8 cut head as our optimal mechanical head for hogs but we do have a lot of guys shoot them with our 1 3/4 cut. You will not have any issues with pigs up to 150-200lbs. anything bigger and i would try and take a quartering away shot with that bigger head. just our recomendation. Good luck!

Thanks GR I was hoping so. Just was not sure if I would produce enough KE for them. I think I should be fine. I don't think I will run into any over 200lbs. If so I have a backup that will do the job. If I get some I'll post and we might even have some video if all works as planned but we all know how that can go...they call it hunting not shooting for a reason!

Like GR said anything around the 175lb mark or lower will be fine. Most of the average hogs we have are in that category down here. If you run into anything bigger slip it into the chest on a quartering away shot and you'll be good to go and dragging some bacon!
