Thumbs up Any new handmade head work going on ?

Sadly there are only a few post's here in the homegrown threads but a number of you guy's have made some great head's and have given me some great idea's.Post's of the jig's and holding blocks are great reference.
Im getting some material together to start some of my own and wanted some help getting supplies together.Im looking for ferrel's mostly, the blade material is just about taken care of.Some suggestions on that would be helpfull too.

Im a tool and die maker and have ran an EDM for years so the first thing i had thought of was to stack a pile of material together and burn some cool shapes.I saw someone had already done that and had wondered who else made heads like that.Any well known manufacture's? Great for custom designed head's and specials for event's.

Larger scale run's would be better made with a die but initial cost might be prohibitive for shorter production.

Thanks to Big Boar,Rag Horne,Quick94stang,Archer,Red Feather Archery,Booner and Arrowds for the inspiration.

Ed

Some ferrules such as Snuffers are punched out from a disc I believe. Magnus may even sell some ferrules. Old way was to use bullet jackets. I even have a couple homemades that use a wrapped ferrule.
email me and I may have a couple of other ideas.

so i just ordered from 3 rivers archery these bh adapters ( Buy Screw-In Broadhead Adapters Aluminum - Archery Broadhead Adapters ) im gonna use them on my next set i make... what i try to do is put the ferrule or adapter in this case in my drill press and start shaping it with a mill smooth file till i have a nice short taper ,i do most of my work with files. then cut the slot for the blade. i think also if you go the jb weld route the jb quik doesnt work as good as the reg kind ... i also like a shorter bh since its lighter. good luck holler if you need any assistance! -chris-

Thanks Chris ! ! ! I was inspired by your work and thought man i could do that with all my exp in a tool room.I sort of have access to a EDM at work. They are going back and forth fixing the old one we had so im hopeful i can get on it and make some heads.

Idea's are more than welcome even designs and trick's.Im hunting down some ferrule's to use and have some help from a few guy's so far.

Ed,

havent made any "broadheads" yet. unless ya count the numerous steel "trade points" ive made so far. have been thinking about how to go about attaching a few of the trade points to spent shell casings to make a more broadhead sorta head.
always thinking thinking thinking...
enjoy this site. hope to see more homemades here soon!
