Hi everyone! I'm new here and want to ask for opinions on mechanicals. I have some jak hammers, grim reapers now, all 125s. I am considering the 125 rage, or just shooting a small fixed like the wasp boss 125 which i have also. I am concerned hearing of reports of rages and reapers opening prematurely and saw a test video of a rage failing on particle board, even though i know game is not made of this, it concerns me. I have a hunt booked to illinois, as i am a us marine and just returned home from iraq and want the best for my important hunt. Any advise and opinions is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
P.S. I shoot 29.5" 70lb Mathews Z7 430gr arrows at aprx. 280fps Last edited by archerjay; 06-24-2010 at 05:55 PM. |

Give swhacker a look. They have strong and very sharp blades, along with a rock hard carbide tip. leave a 1 1/4 entrance and a 2 1/4 exit. Good strong head but because of a some what small company you don't hear a lot about them. Just my 2 cents.

archerjay...first and foremost...thank you for your service to our country...and also thank you for joining this site..
From reading your post I kinda get that you want the best of both worlds on which broadhead to use...so why not look at a hybrid head like the NAP 2 or 3 blade or the Smoke Ramcat....you can check out the info on these heads below in the manufactures threads... Out of the heads you already have...it sounds like you have more confidence in the Wasp Boss....and for that reason...that is why I would say shoot that head.... A lot of good broadheads out there...just shoot what you are really confident in..

So far the Grim Reaper is the only mechanical broadhead that I have had enough confidence in to use on game. The 1 3/8 razortip worked EXTrEMELY well for me!

I have not shot any mechs but this year I did pick up a pack of grim reapers to try.

Just look at my "It was a miss, but check this out post"...It is self explanatory. I am not on staff with Grim Reaper, but in the game of mechanicals, I will put them up against any.I think you will be convinced.
