So after reading the many rave reviews on the Grim Reapers I was positive this would be the first mechanical head I would be using. Was quite excited to try them out but first wanted to get the practice heads to see how they flew. Also got the GR hunts DVD and the testing DVD they have so I was pumped.
But after shooting them I definitely decided to stay with my Strikers. 2 out of 3 corkscrewed quite badly and hit far different than my field points. Was pretty puzzled to say the least. I did spin them on my arrows and didn't see anything bad there. Put my Strikers back on and they flew well so it wasn't the arrow. So do you think the real deal would fly better? Anybody else experience bad flight with the practice heads? I did read one post one here or AT, can't remember which one, and the guy said Grim Reapers take some tinkering to get them to fly well. Don't know what he meant by that. Is it because they are so long and with the weight distributed over such a long length, does that have something to do with it? I really was set on using them so am really wondering what the deal was. Thanks for any info in advance. |

I would check to make sure they are spinning true. I have not expirenced that issue with my reapers.
Are they fully seated on the shaft?

My practice heads flew straight. Don't know. Call grim reaper and tell them what you have experienced. I'm sure they will send you another practice head to try. Never heard any problems like that before.

Yeah thats what I was thinking but looked them all over and couldn't see anything obviously wrong with them as far as a blade being bent (which I was sure it had to be) or a crooked ferrule. Like I said I spun them and they seemed good to me.
Will look at them again to see if I missed anything. |

Has to be a bad practice head, because mine all fly great, as well as the broadheads. I'm very happy w/ them. I used the practice heads all summer. I like to practice w/ the exact setup that I'll be hunting with.
That is the main reason I switched to the reapers. I will vouch for them, they have excellent customer service. |

I was inspecting my practice heads and noticed that the blades are bent. I had been shooting them into the Block target. One of the blades is severely twisted.
The interesting thing is that I have shot them at most 25 times each. I had the first batch of practice heads that were shipped without their commerical packaging. I'm wondering if the pratice heads are of a different material? |

I just recently picked up 2 packs ow Whitetail Special Reapers and tried out the practice heads first. I shot one and it was all over the place. I went inside and gave it a spin test and it had a very noticeable wobble. I then put my other practice head on that same shaft and it spun great as did the restr of the actual heads. The practice head that spun well hit right with my field tips out to 50 yards.
