Hey guys, I have been looking for a new broadhead since the Rocky Mountain Snypers have been sold out to Rage, and Rage are horrible. So with that being said, I want to get some honest FIELD TESTED facts on what broadhead I should go with. I have my search narrowed down to the following two broadheads,
1.) Redhead Gator XP (Which is like the Snyper, just in a lever action) 2.) Trophy Ridge Meat Seeker 3 blade in 1 1/2" cut And a Kinda far fetched but "interesting" and out on a limb pick 3.) Swhacker I appreciate your help in any capacity. I really need serious help picking a head. Im leaning towards the Meat Seeker, but feel free to weigh in on the matter. Thanks a lot guys! PS. How do the blades stay closed on the Gators? This has me puzzled. |

i shoot the redhead gators they shoot just like field tips i shot he rage 2 before i switched to the gators and i like them but the gators were 10 dollars cheaper and it didnt look like there was any difference between them. they dont take orings the blades are stiff enough to stay closed until they hit something i actually get better penetration with these than i did with the rage 2. i shoot a 60 lb Mathews Reezen and have no problems getting pass throughs my dad also shoots these he shoots a 55lb switchback xt he shot a little spike buck this year at 25 yds he was quartering away the arrow went in about midways on his left side and exited in front of the right shoulder the deer went 30yds and piled up he got a complete passthrough the entry and exit holes are the exact same as on the rage 2 i love them and will continue using them

Out of the three listed, I would pick swhackers and then gators in that order. I tried the swhackers out this year and was a very accurate broadhead out to 50 yards. That is all the farther I can shoot but was shooting inside of a roll of duct tape at 50 yards with them. I have not had a deer run over 40 yards this year with them. All complete pass throughs as well. The gators made nasty holes but had trouble getting pass throughs. I shoot a Mathews Monster with a 427 grain arrow at 297 fps so I really shouldnt have a problem with pass throughs. Although the entrance hole is more then enough lol. If you want pictures of some swhacker damage let me know. Ill see if I can find them again.

This is my first year using the Gator XP and I will have to say!!! WOW!!! These are the real deal. Like 90% of all Bh addicts, I tried the Rage and wasnt happy with the results. Left mech all together till this year.. This doe was 32yds and quartered away. The Gator went in about next to last rib on back and exited between here shoulders out the sternum. 40yrds and piled up.. Crazy blood trail ...

I too am not happy with, and dont trust Rage. I've had them not open and penetrate, and also have had complete passthroughs. I don't trust the Rage if it hits bone. It just doesn't seem consistent. Haven't tried the other ones you are looking at, currently using Grim Reaper Whitetails but haven't had a kill yet.

That sentence right there says it all, I watched one bounce off a squirrels head at ten yards, you'd think atleast the impact woulda killed him, it knocked him out of the tree, but as I walked to claim my prize he got up and ran up the nearest tree. I know they arent designed for squirrel, but come on. Sorry to rant, but like I said your sentence somes it up perfectly. More so the tip on a rage just doesnt seem to be a bone penetrating or busting tip.
Honestly of the ones on your list I'd take the wild card, Schwacker, That specfic design is awesome, penetrate like crazy, and always sharp to cut up the vitals. As far as the meat seekers I dont trust the blades through bone, at all, but thats based soley on the design.
