Ive noticed that most replaceable blade bhs almost cant be sharpened. Especially noticed this with rage. I tried several things too, even diamond toothed fles to no avail, its part of the reason i wont shoot them. That being said even with sharpening ive never really had a "hair shaver" from any type of bh.

Those replaceable blades seem too thin to properly sharpen. I recently bought some German-Kinetics 125XLs, and while they were hair-shaving sharp out of the package, they dulled slightly after practice and being shot through cardboard (which will dull anything). They were still dangerously sharp, but the didn't shave any more. All it took was some passes on my Spyderco Sharpmaker on the medium and fine rods and they shave hair again. My wife just looked at my arms and rolled her eyes at me. She doesn't understand my obsession with sharpness until I sharpen her kitchen knives; then she remembers.

I have a set of Diamond wet stones in three differant stages, coarse, fine and ultra fine. I have sharpened Hellrazors, Grimreapder expandable blades and the solid tip, Magnus Stingers and the bleeder blade as well as every knive in the house. Also the Wasp expandables come with a roll on the edges of the trokar tip these stones are perfect for getting those sharp as well. As for the Rage I have not used them yet, but you should be able to it takes time and practice. The steel they use on these blades are extra hard so a diamond stone is the way to go and again it takes time. Keep at it and you will see what I mean. I ussualy start out with the coarse stone and work my way down, unless the edges just need touching up a bit and I always sharpen any broadhead straight out of the pack. The only one that I have not had any luck with are the Ram Cats the blades are a bit to small, but I have sharpened the tip on those as well. Good luck and keep at it you will get there....

I use a file , then a fallknivec DC-4 stone to finish (600- 6000 grit)

the "secret" is to keep the same angle every pass u made.
for me is easier to use the file and the stone for all the length of the blade, not like the factory sharpness. with the file, I could keep the same angle for all the lengt of the blade.
one thing I was watching: using too fine stones (or stropping with leather with polish cream to obtain the mirror) you will have a super sharp edge, but u will loose the "saw" effect. I sharpen the Zwickey, the Razorcaps and the Wensel with the file first then I use just a 600 grit stone (DC-4) to finish it. they will not cut the hair, but it will be (for me) better to cut the meat (take a look at the "edge" blades on spitfires or at spyderco knives).

I hope I could be helpfull to somebody

I will admit that im not very skiled when it comes to sharpening however i can get the job done. I have on the other had plenty of bhs that put a nice slice in my fingers and thumbs. I actually check the sharpness by seeing if they cut my fingernails if it does its sharp enough for me.
