Default have you broke a reaper

I shot a buck quartering away the 1 3/8 grim reaper razor tip. The broad head broke off inside the insert of my arrow.I found the broad head except for the expander cup in the lungs of my deer.

Even with a malfunction, you still bring home the deer! These are really great broadheads. I missed one in Illinois, my mistake, the arrow sailed under the deer into the ground. I later washed the head off and still sharp! I'm a believer. Tim

Nope, not yet and I have killed numerous deer and two trees with them...Recovered both and still use them today(from the tree)...Check out my thread in the Grim Reaper section titled "it was a miss, but check this out"

Not to hijack the thread but am thinking of trying these as my first mechanical but not the best a sharpening things what do you do after they are used? I use MX3's right now and it's nice just to change blades. Also worried about the tips as well and quartering shots, Thanks.

I'll let ya know how it holds up if I ever get a shot. I've had the 2 inch whitetail on my crossbow for weeks, with no shot opportunity.

I have great confidence in the GR heads. Go to the GR thread and pull up GR 2" vs 1x4 board and see the test I performed with them. I was sceptical as well with the longer 2" blades and wanted to see how well they held up. I also took a smaller buck a week or two back and blew threw the shoulder with no damage at all to the head.

As far as what to do after they have been used, the same head that I took the buck with is back in my quiver. I took it apart to inpsect, cleaned and touched the blades up on a diamond stone. The GR in my opinion is one of the strongest, accurate and reliable BH on the market.

Well after lots of looking I have decided to try them and ordered the 100gr Razorcuts. I am skeptical about mechanicals but am going to try these for myself. Leaving Muzzy MX-3s which I tried this yr and has a shot further back than I care for, tracked for 3 hrs with very little bloodA also have some ST Mags I am going to try. Ghanks for the input.

the little blades in the tip.
My son had one of the bodies bend this year as well over all they seem to work good but kinda Leary when the broad head breaks in the threads of the insert on a quartering away shot. I shot muzzy for years and have alot of blood compared to the muzzy trails.

I could be wrong here, but having them break at the threads is well, odd to say the least. I wonder if they changed something in the manufacturing process? That kind of thing happens generally along casting lines or stress fractures which are usually found along these lines. I am not saying that I just have not been unlucky yet, but I have been nothing short of satisfied with my Reapers.

As of the 19th of November, I can say yes. One of the blades snapped right off.
