Lightbulb Any advice?

Mark Land,
My name is Jason L Peetz. I also have a rich history in archery although it is not nearly as colorful as yours. The bow and arrow consumed me in the 90’s as a teenager. I travelled all over for local and wide spread I.B.O. shoots. If I could put together enough money for gas I was known to drive nonstop across several states with no sleep, step out the car and into the shoot. I shot several hours every day and still had energy to tinker with bows and equipment at a local bow shop where I worked for free to get my hands on ever changing new equipment I could evaluate, and sometimes tear apart, see what makes it tick, and put it back together. At shoots I learned to always look for an edge, that edge always seemed to come from a little customizing on my equipment. Well, now I am 36 years old, still a young guy, but I can’t seem to even see what I used to hit with an arrow now a days, Ha-Ha. That said I have a pretty hefty broadhead idea that is an entirely new way of doing things. It’s not and artsy little more angle here little less weight there. This is truly new and has never been done before. It will require substantial R & D but I also believe that it has the potential to become the next greatest thing and has the ability to generate revenue on many fronts. Any way I am getting close to sending out the information about this broadhead and I recognized your name on broadheadtalk.com as one of the people at Muzzy that this write-up is going to be sent to. I have a great deal of knowledge about the physics of archery but I know very little about the inner workings of broadhead manufacturers or the best way to approach them. But I have a well written article about this innovation and I plan to send it to all the manufacturers. Any advice?
Thanks;
Jason L Peetz

Have you talked to an attorney? If you plan on getting a patent be very carefull of doing any public exposure of your idea. If you are planning on talking to anyone else about your idea you should get a non-disclosure aggreement with them before you have any discussions.

Yes, My buisness partner (Mark Schroeder) and I are curently in patent pending status. We created (Slingblade LLC). We are nearly done with the partnership agreement. The write-up describing this broadhead is complete and will be mailed to 66 adresses of broadhead manufacturers and those involved shortly. I want to see this not only succeed, I want it to take over the market. That's why I would prefer to put it in the hands of the people who have "been there and done that", however I am prepared to take it there myself if necessary.

Yep start a patent app process 1st then do the patent search to make sure you are not infringing on another patent and approach different companies with your idea. You need to protect your investment 1st before you do this. Also be sure to have working samples or prototypes in hand as well, most companies get hit up with "ideas" all the time, but are not willing to invest 1000's into sombody elses idea without seeing and knowing how the product will work.
We get many requests for new ideas all the time and if we are interested will send out a confidentiality agreement before anything is handed out in order to protect all parties. Thanks and good luck with your products.

Thank you for your advice. I would say within the next month or so you will be recieving a letter that contains a brief description of what this is. Upon request there will be additional information available if this idea intrigues Muzzy or the other manufacturers. I do not have a prototype of any substance other than what was necesary to prove function for the patent, because it is simply beyond my means, but I asure you the physics are sound. This is an entirely new way to hunt, market, and advertise and there is no broadhead that is even remotly like this. I know that is hard to believe, but I ask that you only give it a chance and aproach this with an open mind. It would be quite a personal acomplishment if the broadhead manufacture that produces the broadheads I have shot for many years and have grown to rely on and trust were to give this system a look-see. I started shooting Muzzy shortly after an IBO shoot down south somewhare, Alabama or Georga I think? Any way it was a bigger shoot, I dont know if it was a Tripple Crown shoot or the World Champianship shoot? But it was the early 90's and I am 99% sure it was Michele Eichler tending the Muzzy booth that convinced me on making the change to Muzzy. After years of use I am more than happy with my Muzzy broadheads, you guys at Muzzy obviously pay atention to detail and truly make a reliable broadhead. Thank you for many successfull hunts and your time.

Sounds good Jason and I will be looking for it!
We use to staff a booth at many of the ASA and IBO shoots, that is where I came across Muzzy as well back in the late 80's or around '90 or so and met the guy's from Muzzy! Became friends with them and started hunting and fishing with John from Muzzy which eventually led to me getting a job here!

Thanks Mark;
To anyone reading these threads I highly advise giving Muzzy broadheads a try. They have served me well for many years. They are the well built, easy to tune, and reliable work horse of the broadhead industry. They are obviously built for the no-nonsence hunter. If you want a pretty one I suggest you go to another manufacturer or possibly a flower shop (ha-ha). Any way, thanks for your time and knowlege Mark. Perhaps, with a little luck our paths will cross again.
