i use the green handled, horizontal sitting redi edge sharpener to sharpen my phantoms. the problem is the edge that it puts on the broadhead. it's very jagged and rough. it seems sharp but won't shave hair. is your redi edge sharpener any better than mine? what pressure am i going for when sharpening these heads?

The problem with the standard Redi-Edge sharpeners is the 20 degree angle, which is fine for most knives and some broadhead blades but our cutting angle on the Phantom is closer to 25-30 degrees and is steeper then the standard angle so all the standard sharpener is doing is removing alot of metal on the side of the blade and not as much from the edge as it is trying create a new angle thus the courseness of the metal. These sharpeners only remove a small amount and basically hone the edge when used with light strokes properly. We worked with Klawhorn industries to make a sharperner for our broadheads and that is the blue one that we sell and it has a angled head and tighter cutter clearance so you can acually sharpen the blades on the broadhead and can get within 1/8in of the ferrule without having to revome the blades to sharpen in the field. Thanks
