Default Spitfire kill

During this past weekend, my buddy tagged along on our hunt to Oklahoma. He shot this ram at 67 yards with the trusty Spitfire 100 broadhead. The Spitfire was launched from a Hoyt Maxxis, pulling 93lbs. I didn't get any other specs from him, but he has a very short draw length, probably close to 26-27".

We ranged this guy at 78 yards on the first shot, unfortunately we ranged weeds and the arrow fell short. Now the chase was on. The second shot was put on the ram at 67 yards, with the ram quartering away and looking back over his shoulder at us. We ranged, he drew, I filmed, and the Spitfire broadhead whacked him, leaving a crazy big hole in his neck(he was aiming for the head....and don't ask). The ram only went about 10 yards and expired.

The arrow blew through the animal and stuck into an old shed located 5 yards directly behind. In review of the broadhead after, it did not show any signs of damage. I did not get pics, but will see my buddy on Wed so I will take some pics of it then and post. Until then, here are some pics to enjoy.

Mark is a pretty stout dude. Here's a pic of him with his ram.

Okie is correct, you would have had to be there to understand the "why aim for the head." It was a challenge, and it was done initially at 80+ yards, but the range was off due to grasses.

The broadhead thing is great Travis, way too funny. I know what everyone is going to think, and they're wrong...........

I would definitely say that he is "stout", I would be happy pulling back 83. That is where I want to be with mine I just have not done so yet.

What is he shooting for an arrow out of that rig?

Nice ram! I'm very impressed by the size of the entrence hole from the spitfire. No wonder he only went about ten yards then died. Very cool, guys.

Yep, it was a good thing to take this animal to prevent any future health issues.
