Default Spitfire Entrance?

Im sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was wondering what your average entrance holes are like with Spitfires? I shot Swhacker's this year and they did great but I like to try new things and im thinking about trying the Spitfire or Spitfire MAXX next season.

I don't know if there's an accurate "average" entrance hole measurement ... as there are a lot of variables that go into that from shot angle, type of animal (thickness/elasticity of the hide, etc.) ... but I've personally shot several animals over the past 3 seasons with the Spitfire MAXX, and all but one have gone down within sight of the shot.

The Spitfire MAXX has a 1-3/4" cutting diameter and opens some amazing wound channels. I've personally shot a buck at a quartering shot in ND where the entrance hole was over 6" due to the angle of the shot. The buck's lungs were literally coming out of the hole. Dave Blanton of Realtree had a similar occasion this past season ... in the video, you can actually see the lungs hanging out of the deer as he tries to run away (the video of Dave's buck should air sometime this coming year).

Again, a lot of variables come into play when discussing the size of entrance/exit holes, but being a self-proclaimed "fixed head" guy for 20 years—the Spitfire MAXX did more than enough to convert me personally!

Here's the video of my ND buck, at the very end of the video, you will see him laying there with his lungs/organs hanging out of the entrance hole:

I shot the second hog in this video with the new D6 (Deep Six) version of the Spitfire MAXX. As you can see, the hog didn't deal well with it, ha:

Here's a couple from the "Wound Room" of Spitfire MAXX devastation:

All of the bucks on page 3 of the Trophy Room were taken with the Spitfire MAXX:

Man Jason you SMOKED that buck! Which Spitfire would you recommend for a 29" 63lbs with a 400-415 grain finished arrow? Shooting above 280.

You'd be fine with any of the Spitfire models with your bow setup ... it's not all the different from mine: 28.5"DL, 74# draw with a finished arrow of 418grns.

... and of course, I prefer the Spitfire MAXX, ha!

I've killed with the basic Spitfire, lost a doe with a Maxx....bad shot hit a branch, and wait until you see the exit wounds! Tim
