Default Brand new target vs Phoenix 100

So I get a new Cabelas MLD broad head target (American Whitetail makes them I think) And fire off an ACC Pro-Hunter tipped with a Grim Reaper practice head out of my Athens eXceed 30/70 at about 20yds. BAM right in the middle of the diamond (bulls eye) my first shot in the target. So I fire off the Phoenix tipped Pro-Hunter hits about an inch to the right.

Go get my arrows switch out the GR for a Silverflame 125 XL. Fire off the phoenix (3rd shot at this target) BAM same hole as before about an inch right of the bulls eye. Silverflame hits the middle of the diamond.

Go to retrieve my arrows, both heads are sticking out the back of my BRAND NEW target. Shoot both again phoenix hit the same spot and buries almost to the fletch, silver flame about 3 inches from the fletch

3 shots and I'm blowing out the back of the target. I knew I should have bought a Yellow Jacket lol. Either my target is junk or the Phoenix is just that bad and no target can hold up to the Phoenix Phury, lol.

Can't wait for the 125s.

I have found that the penetration of the pheonix is remarkable. They have ripped apart 2 targets already. I use a mound of sand and foam cups it works perfect. From stand, to ground blind. Plus it doesnt wear out.

I've had good luck with the Hybrid King... www.archerytargets.com

But I found this one in the sportsmans guide for 34 bucks...

It shoots thru it...but i unscrew the Phoenix head and pull it out...lasts a lot longer..

I will be getting another one...

I use a Block target and it gets torn up pretty quick, but I have some 2 foot squares of old wrestling mats that I put behind it and that combo works pretty well. Following this thread with interest as I haven't tried them all and hope to be able to come up with recommendations based on your experiences. Thanks.

I haven't tried the Cube, so can't say...but went and watched the video and would not hesitate to get it...I like the idea of shooting 4 sides....

I will say... since I posted on the Hybrid King...for 34 bucks...(I think on their website it sells for around 40) it is the best target that I have had..I just purchased a cabelas target for 69 bucks and the middle is already about gone..

I think I will get the cube next time since I know how the Hybrid (still) works...

Travis - any ideas on getting the Hyper 420? Just curious. Also, I just ordered the Hybrid King and some Nockturnals from Sportsman's Guide. I remember shooting the Hybrid King in Oklahoma.

Oh, one last thing Travis......................I'M BACK BABY, I'M BACK!!!
