Default Phoenix Torture Test Predictions

Well I am going out to the range, to see how a phoenix will fair against 2 whitetail shoulder blades stacked together. And then the coupe de graw a whitetail leg bone shot from 20 yards.

Bow setup for the test:
2010 New Breed Genetix
28.75" draw
78lbs

String Weight:
Predators veiw peep
6 total speed nocks

Arrow setup for a test:

100 Grain RFA Phoenix
28" carbon to carbon Easton Axis Nano st
75 Grain brass insert
3 right wing rayzr feathers 3° offset
Arrow wrap
Firenock
15% FOC

Total arrow weight: 525 grains
Arrow Speed: 279 fps

Any predictions as to what will happen?

I am guessing that I will get through both shoulder blades and probably have the arrow 8-10" into the hyper420 target. And on the leg bone I am hoping to hit it lol. I will shoot until I hit the leg bone, but I am guessing it should make it through and be in the target 6-8".

If it survives those I may possibly take aim at the ball joint to really see how strong this head is.

My prediction is the Phoenix will blow right through both and do a really big hole in the two of them. The head will be untouched !!!

My prediction

I have to agree, I don't think any bone will stop the Phoenix coming out of that setup.

Prediction: The head blew up, shattering into a thousand pieces.

hahahahaha.............yeah right, not with the Phoenix!

I hope you got this on video, because I want to see some bone shatter and Phoenix barely dulled. Can't wait for your results.

Looking forward to the results. Did a similar test with the leg and shoulder bones of my muley buck. Interested to see how close the results match up.

Ok I am working on the vidoes now but I was very happy with the results unfortunately I did have a blade crack at the back of the vent. But the good news is they are strong I shot it again at the bone and it broke through the bone again and did nothing else. At which point I retired the head becuase it is not good to push my luck with shooting broken heads.

And they are a great head I have no doubt when I make the switch to the 125s and do this test that not a single thing will happen to them.

Great video, that crack is the issue that caused us to recall the most recent batch of heads. Some processes (heat treat, teflon coating, etc.) are outsourced and that means we don't have total control. Heat treating appears to be the issue. We recalled via e-mail the heads from the batch that were faulty. THANKS TO GREAT CUSTOMERS WE CAUGHT THIS BEFORE GETTING TOO MANY OUT THE DOOR!

Were those heads still capable to taking game - yes, some customers have done just that.

Were they up to our standards - not even close. When we get the issue resolved without a doubt we'll have the 100 grains back up for sale.

Excellent test! I knew the Phoenix would break bone with no problem.
