Well I thought I was gonna strike out again today. I hunt Type 2 government woods here in Texas since its close to the house. Anyways It is heavily hunted but numbers are fair. I also hunt from my boat on the islands that are surrounded by the lake. Well I set up and needless to say this old doe would not clear some briars for nothing. Well she was getting antsy so I took the only shot she provided me a head and neck shot.
She was 26 or 27 yards from my range finder, I felt confident in the setup I shoot. Accomplice 34, pheonix heads, so I picked my spot and let the arrow fly. It hit perfect and she dropped, kicked twice and was done. Thanks Stan for an awesome head. I deleted pics.

No I was not in the boat when I shot her. I was in the woods, she never completly moved into my lane. She hung up forever feeding on some acorns. She just stood there. I felt good with my shot so I let it fly.. No after pics. I am sorry I figured I would be flamed for just posting this. So no after pics. I went ahead and deleted pics. Dont need the ethics police bustin my chops.

Congrats on the deer! And while its not a typical shot it got the job done and it is very effective if you can make it. Like you said you were confident in your abilities so I see no harm in taking that shot.

Chris - great news my man, way to stick it. No worries on the shot, as you said, it was an ethical kill. Who cares what others think, they weren't there in the situation, so kudos to you for killing an animal and providing for your family.
Widowmaker - Seriously..............a 40 day bow hunt in 3 states? Dang, I need a new job!!!
