Monday morning I could not find the strength to get out of bed with a sinus infection setting in. My Dear Wife came in before dawn and raised the curtain next to our bed. It was still pretty dim, but I could definitely make out the shapes of two deer at 60 yards and they appeared to be bucks if I squinted (of course I was out of it so anything could have looked like a deer). Still in my flanel pajamas and covered in vicks (I really was sick) I grabbed my bow, a Phoenix, my range finder, and a rattle bag. Keep in mind, this is my very first season of bow hunting so I'm scrambling around trying to locate the proper stuff.
I got all set up and opened up my dining room glass door and screen just a crack. What a perfect day, the wind was blowing directly into the house! I left the curtains closed and started to rattle a little just to see what would happen. My daughters and wife headed to the girls' bedroom to watch from the window. A little doe walked in and these two bucks started chasing her around within 20 yards of the house. I was baffled and trying to figure out what to do. My Dear told me I had to take one of them because it would be the story of a life-time. Just at that time a buck stood broadside out the door at 30 yards just begging to be taken out. So what could I do but let that Phoenix explode his heart and nick his right lung. He ran about 50 yards and fell over dead. Not 5 minutes later two monster bucks came in at 8 and 10 points and the 10 pointer was way out past his ears. My Dear continually apologized that she should have let me wait a little longer, but it was an incredible morning and a successful hunt none-the-less. Thank You Red Feather Archery and Athens for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime. I now have the most expensive deer stand in the county and have multiple out-of-state hunters begging to sit at my dining room table. The 8 pointer has been back both morning and night for the past two days tailing a doe. As far as being sick...well let's just say I felt better the rest of the day. Check out the attachment for all the pictures that tell the story much better than me (thanks Dear for taking them!). I'm definitely hooked and look forward to many more successful hunts...maybe even some more from inside my house in my pj's! Couldn't have been a better hunt with my whole family getting to be part of the excitement (I think they're hooked too). I'm asked every day when we're going hunting again! Thanks Okie101 for getting me hooked and helping me get setup! |

Great read !!!! It only gets better from here too, Red Feather Archery's broadheads are incredible, all of them. Don't try the 150 grain Phoenix, that one will also give you goose bumps, believe me, I know !!!
Again, congratulations and thank you for sharing

Awesome story! If I had known it was that easy I wouldn't bother going out and hanging all those stands in the woods.
Congrats on a fine deer and you picked an excellent broadhead also!

Congrats!! Sounds like an exhausting hunt, atleast you didn't have to go out into the cold. All I get from the house are crows and squirrels!!!
