Default First longbow kill and first kill with the Razorhawk!

Let me start out by saying that this has been the most diffucult bow season I believe ever for me. I have had close call after close call and seen 3 of the biggest bucks on my property in years, even getting 2 of them within 20 yards and blowing it both times shooting low.

I took this whole week off work to bowhunt because our Indiana firearms season starts Saturday and so far this has been the first archery season in 18 years that I hadn't filled my early archery tags. I have hunted hard all week but couldn't seem to do anything right. I have been winded by two very old very smart does, I jumped the big 10 point I have been seeing twice on the way to my stand in the evenings and I missed a nice eight point yesterday evening.

To make a very long story short this morning I finally made it happen, right after I missed the biggest buck I have ever let an arrow fly at but I'm not gonna talk about that one. I shot this deer with my 40# Black Widow longbow at 17 yards. The Razorhawk hit in front of the right shoulder and lodged in the opposite shoulder taking his front end out and killing this deer in less than a minute. I was able to watch him go down from the tree. I can't describe the feeling when I saw him go down quickly and in sight of my tree. My buddy was hunting across tghe creek about 150 yards away and he heard the deer crash. He sent me a text asking what the noise was and all I could reply with was "I got him" He called me shortly after and I was so tore up I couldn't even talk I had to hang up and sit for awhile before I fell out of the tree. He is the smallest buck I have killed in several years but I am more proud of him than any of the big ones on my wall!

Stan,
Buddy thank you for the congrats today and for sending me the 150 Gr Razorhawk's. They flat out killed this deer quick and clean just like I knew they would if I could ever connect. I look forward to trying them again on a doe later this year.

Way to go !!!!!!!! I am so happy for you knowing how one can feel being successful with a traditional set up !! And by the way, that is one very nice deer and its so nice to see how Stan's two blade Razorhawk are putting game down for the count

Again, congratulations and you get ten thumbs up from both Sylvie and I

Thank you for the kind words! I had almost forgotten how awesome that feeling is when you are successful with traditional gear. The last deer I took with trad gear was a doe with my recurve 5 or 6 years ago. I made a commitment to myself to hunt with the longbow only this year and I have enjoyed every minute of it, even during the low points I never thought about hanging it up and grabbing a compound.

The Razorhawk is proving to be a very deadly broadhead, I know there will be no other broadhead in my longbow quiver.

Hey Bill, just couldn't be any happier for you. I know what a commitment you made to pursuing deer this year with a longbow and I'm glad it paid off. Enjoyed chatting with you last night, and liked we talked about I'm sure this will be a big boost in confidence that will lead to more success with your new longbow as well.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I am hooked on hunting with the longbow now, I don't see myself going back to compound gear any time soon.

Bigtimber good luck with your traditional gear, keep after it and it will happen. I struggled at times this season and I missed 2 or 6 before I finally connected with this one . When it does work out the feeling is undescribeable.
