They will come loose when pulling them out of a foam target, this is one thing I do not like about them. They are not very easy to tighten down either and do not stay tight very well. I like the head overall but the blades will curl fairley easy as well. If SB would make them were they would stay locked down and thicken the blades there BH would be up there with the others....

I had the same experience with the screws on mine. They striped out when I was trying to tighten them enough to get the blades to stay. I also had the tips curl a bit after shooting. So i decided to shoot them with all the problems to see what happened. I loosened the screws so the blades would flop around and left the ends curled as well. To my surprise they flew just like they did when everything was tightened down and straight. I hit the ends of two pieces of plywood by accident when shooting them. I had to cut the plywood to get them out. Zero damage and everything still flew fine. No ferrel damage at all. Then last night i tightened and sharpened them as best I could and double lunged a doe. Complete pass thru and the arrow stuck about 1 inch into the base of a tree upon exit. It was just far enough in so I couldn't see the blades. I pulled it out and the only thing wrong was the tips were bent again. So, today I pulled the blades out and sharpened them, put it back together and shot it. Flew just like my field tips still. So, yes, it does p*** me off that the blades won't stay tight and I think if the blades could have maintained their thickness to the ends they would survive a bit better but, they never broke and they still fly great. I'm actually thinking about cutting the last millimeter or two off the blades to see if that stiffens them up enough to keep them from curling. I'm not psyched about hearing that they sell 9 blades with three screws??? The blades have held up great, it's the screws that I need replaced. I've been able to make due by torquing the allen wrench enough to get them to stay but what a PITA. Anyway, I'm impressed enough with their performance to keep shooting them for now.
It did leave a great blood trail. |

Just as a follow up, I contacted RamCat to purchase some new screws. They don't sell them separately but the person I talked to said if I bought a package of blades he would throw in extra screws for the heads I needed. Score! He also said that for 2012 they were making modifications. 1. the allen size needed to tighten them will be one size bigger than the current (this should help to avoid striping them out). 2. The screws will be produced with a left hand thread! Now the blades will fold back as they are tightened really locking them into place. Awesome!
