Just an observation
I broke down and bought a pack of Ramcats today. I was impressed with the original Smoke Broadheads. Now, these are some mean looking heads. Super sharp as always, and sturdy. So, I put them to the test. I shot them out of my Athens Buck Commander. All shots were on a Gold Tip 75-95 ProHunter, 27 5/8 inch arrow length to throat of the nock. Standard GoldTip nocks and inserts. The only difference...The fletchings. IN this case, I used Bohning 3 inch vanes, Bohning 2 inch Blazer vanes, and the Bohning Mini-Blazers. The Ramcats on two of the three arrows penetrated beyond belief in my Rhinehart target(18-1). These were the heads on the 3 inch and 2 inch Blazer fletched arrows. The mini on the other hand seemingly allowed the Ramcat to "steer" the arrow. Rotation was pronounced on all three, but seemingly not as noticeable with the Mini-Blazer. It actually steered the arrow not once, not twice, but three times to impact the target with the head of the arrow, but so far to the lower left of the target, the arrow glanced off of the target landing on top of the fill dirt behind the target.
So, there is no doubt this head will do the trick. Awesome penetration, quiet, accurate....Unless of course the arrow is fletched with Mini-Blazers. This is not a bash on the Ramcat. I am absolutely impressed. I love the Smoke, and I am ready to put the Ramcat to the true test.
