Wow really not sure just what to say here...
oh ya thats it you rushed a shot for no reason and made a poor shot that had poor penatration had you waited longer she would have given you a better angle and likely a double lung shot she showed no sign of being wary
and ready to run even if I would not take that shot
sorry jmho

First of all...the video is not of me. Second of all, I have killed at least a dozen deer with a quartering in shot and will take it when presented. I happen to love that shot angle. In this case, the heart and one lung were destroyed and the deer was down in 40 yards. Quartering in is quartering away in reverse and there is no majical shield or majic shrinking of the vitals just because you are entering in front of the near shoulder instead of exiting there. Take a good hard look at a real deer skeleton and you will see how much of a no brainer shot it really is when the near leg is back. I can provide you the skeleton pic if you like...

Poor penetration? Really? Maybe you need to look a little closer and even pause it at the hit. The broadhead went into the far shoulder, though did work back out when it took off. Even a midwestern doe's chest in only about 8 inches thick there and so that leaves 20+ inches of arrow sticking out before it starts working its way around in the chest. This doe happens to be in FL so even smaller. I guess if you consider not penetrating the far shoulder "poor penetration" then you would be correct here. I can show you a video clip of a doe I shot two years ago with the exact opposite shot, meaning quartering away. The arrow busted the far shoulder but as the doe runs off the arrow is flopping around as if there was very little penetration.

Any other assumptions or questions?

While you are "sorry" because you won't take that shot...we'll keep putting deer down and not apologize for it.

Congrats on the deer first and formost. SARASR was stating his point of view and simply by reading his post, I know he would not take a shot like that and thats his preference. I would not take a shot like that either. THOUGH I have in the past and from my experience I have not been able to get that much penetration into the boiler room due to the heavy concentration of bone in that area. It looks like you cut the artery in the neck and thats where the spray came from. It is truely hard to tell on the amount of penetration due to the angle she took when she took off. What are the specs of the bow and your arrow weight? Again Congrats on the deer. I get just as excited on every deer the same as you

Ok Ok sorry if my tone was aggressive not trying to start anything My Bad;
And thank you Pureluck for the objective clarification.

Not your shot got it; but as many poor shots as you can read being taken
with all the variables wind drift, deer movement, you know what I mean, yes there is a opening here but its a low percentage shot and given a little more time the way she was moving would have soon presented a better one.

with that being said
1. great shot hitting the mark-(but not one I would advise)
2. And Congrats on taking the deer.
3. Sorry for my original post after reviewing it, it did seem more aggresive
than the way it played in my head, ( tounge in cheek sarcasm does'nt translate well in text)
appology public. Scott

Hey SARASR, no need to apologize, but thanks! It's all good.

I did shoot a doe Monday myself with a quartering in shot. It as 10 yards, buried 3/4 the arrow. Blood pumping out as she ran past the tree and she fell in sight 45 yards away. Blood trail easily visible from up in the tree! Contrast that with the buck I shot 3 or 4 minutes later...quartering away, "perfect" hit...200 yard long blood trail. Of course maybe that had something to do with the hot doe he was chasing even after my arrow zipped thru him, LOL.

Good luck everyone the rest of the fall.
