Hey from GA
I guess I'll introduce myself. My name is Chris Spikes and I'm from Vidalia, GA. I started bowhunting in 1988 at the age of 14. Killed my first deer that year at 13 yards, and so began the obsession. I shot a compound up until '97, hunted traditional in '98 and '99, then because I wasn't quite satisfied with my accuracy with the stickbow, went back to compound in 2000.
In mid-season, 2006, I just happened to pick up my recurve and try shooting 3-under. I knew right away that would be the ticket for me and, in 3 days time, was shooting better than I ever had. By the end of the week, I was confident enough to make the switch, and went traditional for good.
I'm currently at 82 bowkilled deer. 48 of those were with a compound, and 34 with a stickbow, with 24 of those coming in the last 4 seasons. I do most of my hunting on public land, and enjoy the challenge.
As far as broadheads go, I've always believed that bigger is better. I'm colorblind, and need all the help I can get. I started shooting Simmons heads in 1990, and believe them to be the best flying, most durable, and best penetrating head on the market. Early on, I shot a lot of animals with the 1 9/16" Land Shark, but since going traditional, I tend to lean more towards the Interceptor and, my favorite, the Tree Shark.
Thanks to Dave Oligee for sending me to this site. I like what I see, and hope I can contribute.
Chris
